An Otterville Mill Wedding
The weather is getting frightful but the beauty of fall is all around. Jacolien and Arno had a stunning Fall wedding. This was my first ever Dutch wedding!! It is very cool to be a part of something that is unique to it’s own culture and traditions!! Since I have only been a part of one Dutch wedding I still have a lot to learn about their culture but from what I witnessed, weddings are truly a celebration of love and Family! Spending time together with loved ones and celebrating that two people are becoming one through marriage.
I met Jacolien and her lovely bridesmaids, and junior bridesmaid, in the early am’s of the morning. They were all getting their hair and makeup done. Jacolien was awaiting for Arno to come by the house around 9. It is a Dutch tradition for the groom to come to the Bride’s house to pick her up before the wedding! The plan was to do some Bride and Groom shots outside with the beautiful fall colours before the ceremony…But we got rained out! So instead we did some inside Jacolien’s family home and they got to spend the morning together with family and loved ones.
My second shooter, Maria, and I awaited for Jacolien and Arno to come out of the Sanctuary as Mr. Mrs.! As they walked down the aisle I could see them both glowing from joy! Family members and friends all greeted them and congratulated them and we celebrated with a light lunch!
I am so honoured to have been a part of your day, Jacolien and Arno! To witness the Dutch Cultue was wonderful! I love meeting new people from different ethnic backgrounds! I hope your enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed working with you!!
